Islam does not condone the building of shrines or seeking the involvement of any being, sainted or holy, in asking Allah (God) for anything. Yet the real culture of today’s Islam is such that saints, Sufis, holy people, shrines, are an integral part of asking God for anything, be it health, wealth, prosperity, offspring or anything else.

The film looks at the role of ritual in today’s Islam, in South Asia, and the central role that shrines play.
