OBJECTIVES

The new world leadership has come to recognize that madrassas are an integral part of Islamic culture and they are here to stay. They also recognize that to address some of the challenges presented by the ‘madrassa phenomenon’ is to remove the sense of alienation, and to build on a more inclusive and supportive approach towards reform. The objective of the film is to dispel a number of notions held about madrassas and the negative connotations they are shrouded by.

An intimate view into the world of madrassa students (past and present), who form a rather large part of the Pakistani population will establish that by and large they are no different from the general population. The film will create a better understanding, and break down some of the walls of prejudice raised by war mongering leaders and bad press. In all fairness it will also highlight some of the challenges, and encourage a more receptive and supportive attitude towards bringing about change which will assist in assimilating graduates into the mainstream.
