The film is about the plight of the displaced children, scattered across Afghanistan and neighboring countries. It explores who they are, where they come from, what they do, how they live, and what they see as their future. Issues of survival, money, food, education, family, values, occupation and above all identity are closely examined.
The message of the film is conveyed through interviews with children, social workers, volunteers, as well as a child psychiatrist who has worked specifically with Afghan refugee children in and around Afghanistan, offering some valuable insight into their psyche. The voice over is tight and is used to thread the story together, working seamlessly with interviews to form a complete picture.
The footage is shot in Afghanistan and Pakistan between 2000 and 2004, in various refugee camps, settlements, communities, urban and rural areas of both countries, as well as border areas.
