The film is about the plight of the displaced children, scattered across Afghanistan and neighboring countries. It explores who they are, where they come from, what they do, how they live, and what they see as their future. Issues of survival, money, food, education, family, values, occupation and above all identity are closely examined.
The film examines how, many of these children become ready and willing victims to the pervasive and incestuous culture of drugs, arms, and extremism which exists in many of the displaced Afghan communities. It also explores the social and societal fallout as the effects ripple through the system over time.
The story briefly alludes to the immediate and obvious causes of why there are so many of these children scattered all over the sub continent. Causes such as armed conflict, government neglect, exploitation, underground big business, drought, poverty, etc. all of which are cited by the victims as well as the authorities but most of which only address the symptoms and not the root causes.
