All across Pakistan, from the Arabian Sea coast to the peaks of the Himalayas, the highways and roads are constantly busy with trucks carrying goods. Although this may be a common sight in any country, the difference here is the curious and unusual practice of creating works of art on trucks, unique to Pakistan and parts of the Indian subcontinent. These canvases on the move are an art-form in themselves and have an inimitable style.
This is a documentary film about the Truck Art of Pakistan. This is a rather odd phenomenon which is unique to South Asia and particularly to Pakistan. Huge sums of money and years of experience and training go into creating each masterpiece which is then on display for free as it moves across roads, villages and cities through the country. Over many decades it has evolved into an art genre which is now transcending its origins and appearing in other forms. The film explores the origins, tradition, culture and future of this art.
